The mother of the immediate past councillor of Ward 15 in Port Harcourt City Locl Government Area(name withheld) has been reportedly shot by unknown gunmen over alleged refusal of her son to pay them “election security money.”
Sources say the gunmen stormed the family house of the former councillor at Egede street this morning and shot his mum when they could not find him.
They said the hoodlums in their numbers visited the Ward on Saturday whilst election was ongoing and requested for money but, the councillor refused to heed to their request.
The elderly woman we gathered was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The Police has visited the area but, is yet to release an official statement on the matter.
