The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Ezebunwo Ichemati has distributed bags of rice and other items to 18 out of the 20 wards in the area.
The Chairman disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
He said, “At the end of today, 18 out of the 20 Wards in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area have each received 100 bags of Rice and 9 bags of garri.
These items include the 25 bags of rice and 9 bags of garri initially donated by the Presidency, and 75 bags of rice recently donated by the Nigerian Governor’s Forum.
By God’s grace, the remaining wards which are Wards 6 and 7 shall receive theirs on Monday, 26th August, 2024.
As a Council, we have released the sum of 1 million naira to be shared equally among the 20 wards of Port Harcourt City Local Government to enable the seamless distribution of these items to the end users.
We thank His Excellency, The Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS for leading from the front with his brother Governors in ensuring that these food palliatives reach the nooks and crannies of the entire Country.
We assure Your Excellency that these palliatives will be equitably distributed to those that need them.
The Ward Leaders and/ or representatives are advised to ensure that the distribution of these items are done fairly. The Council will not tolerate any attempt to shortchange our people.
We pledge once again, that we shall leave no stone unturned to ensure that our people are happy and comfortable.
