Some residents of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area (PHALGA) have raised an alarm over what they termed outrageous electricity tariff by the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED), for the month of November 2020.
Some of them who spoke to Elanhub’s reporter, Uhegbu Stanley today accused PHED of trying to extort electricity consumers despite the prevalence of epileptic power supply in the area.
One of the residents of Akokwa in Diobu, Jerry Kipoye buttressed the claims by presenting this month’s bill issued to his compound by PHED.
A look at the bill showed more than a 100 percent increase from that of last month which was 6,174.48 to 20,765.74, VAT inclusive, for the current month.
Residents have called on PHED to withdraw the outrageous bills and come-up with proper charges as they do not have such amount to pay.
