A whooping sum of 1.5 billion dollars was approved in 2021 for the maintenance of the Port Harcourt Refinery according to Senator, Bamidele Opeyemi.
Opeyemi disclosed this during a stakeholders meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.
He stated that the government has invested billions of dollars to maintain and turn around the state-owned refineries in Kaduna, Port Harcourt and Warri. But they are still not functioning.
Bamidele who is the Chairman of the Senate Ad Hoc Committee to Investigate the Alleged Economic Sabotage in the Nigerian Petroleum Industry said people cannot continue to treat government offices the way they like.
