The Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi says he is unimpressed with the pace of work on the Kano-Kaduna rail line.
The Minister, disclosed this when he went on an inspection tour of the rail project, Today.
According to him, the slow pace of work is totally unacceptable, noting that all issues will be addressed next week.
He urged the contractors to improve on the pace of work, as the project needs to be ready for Nigerians to use.
“Kano-Kaduna rail inspection today: I’m unimpressed with the pace of work between our last visit and today. By next week we will address all issues, from Port Harcourt-Maiduguri to Kano-Kaduna. Totally unacceptable,” he said.
The Port Harcourt-Maidugiri rail line is expected to link Nigeria’s industrial and agriculture hubs, facilitating the easy movement of people, goods and services.
When completed, it will connect Rivers, Abia, Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau, Kaduna, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe and Borno states.
