The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed ongoing efforts to bring back former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, into its ranks.
Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Ibrahim Abdullahi, made the disclosure during an interview on Arise Television, describing Obi as a major political asset who could significantly enhance the party’s chances in future elections.
Abdullahi praised Obi’s performance in the 2023 presidential election, where he secured over six million votes nationwide despite what he alleged were instances of “massive rigging” and institutional barriers that hampered his campaign.
“Peter Obi is our product. We want to get him back because he remains a great political capital for any party,” Abdullahi said.
He added that had Obi not left the PDP and faced such electoral challenges, his results could have been even more impressive, noting that the Labour Party flagbearer’s strong showing proves he is a force to be reckoned with in Nigeria’s political landscape.
