Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, on Saturday stated that his ambition is not driven by desperation for power but by a desire to see Nigeria function effectively for its citizens.
Speaking during a special Anniversary Sabbath service at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Umuahia to mark two years of Governor Alex Otti’s administration, Obi emphasised the challenges of governance in Nigeria, particularly for leaders striving to do what is right.
“It is difficult to govern Nigeria or any of its states, especially when you are determined to do the right thing,” he said. “When I say to people I am not desperate to be President, I am desperate to see Nigeria work.”
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, urged citizens to pray for leaders and called on public officials to manage state resources responsibly for the benefit of all. He particularly requested prayers for Governor Otti and his cabinet, citing the need for divine guidance in leadership.
