Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has disbursed a total of ₦576 million in social intervention donations across Nigeria from January to July 2025, according to a report by Staticsene.

The donations, largely targeted at educational and health institutions, show a regional tilt with the South East receiving the highest allocation of ₦415 million. The North West and North Central followed with ₦60 million each, while the South South and North East got ₦35 million and ₦6 million respectively.

The largest single donation was ₦100 million to IHM Health System in Anambra State on January 24. Other significant contributions include ₦50 million to Christ the King College, Onitsha, and ₦30 million to Paul University, Awka.

A total of 32 institutions benefitted from the interventions, ranging from colleges of nursing and universities to orphanages and internally displaced persons (IDP) camps.

In the South East, major recipients included: IHM Health System, Anambra — ₦100 million, Christ the King College, Onitsha — ₦50 million, Dominican Sisters College, Abatete — ₦25 million, Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu — ₦20 million, Community Health Centre, Nkanu East LGA — ₦20 million

The North West saw support to both Islamic and Christian institutions, including ₦20 million each to Joseph D. Bagobiri Memorial College and Kawo Al-Majiri School, Kaduna.

In the North Central region, donations included ₦20 million to Kubwa Anglican Comprehensive Secondary School & Hospital, Abuja, and ₦20 million to flood victims in Niger State.

Obi’s intervention in the North East focused on technological support, with ₦6 million worth of equipment delivered to Chibok Secondary School in Borno.

His South South engagements included ₦20 million to the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Calabar and ₦15 million to Philomena College of Nursing, Edo State.

Staticsene reports that the donations are part of Obi’s ongoing commitment to grassroots development and investment in critical social sectors.
