Former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi has dismissed claims that he is seeking preferential treatment or a “free ticket” for the 2027 election.
Obi, speaking through his media aide Ibrahim Umar, responded to comments by LP National Publicity Secretary Obiora Ifoh, who recently stated that the party had no plans to automatically field Obi, Abia State Governor Alex Otti, or other 2023 candidates in the next election.
The clarification follows a statement by factional LP spokesperson Abayomi Arabambi, who claimed the party intended to nominate Obi to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
