The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has dismissed reports suggesting he may run as a vice-presidential candidate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the 2027 general election.
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Obi described the claims as mere speculation. He reaffirmed his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election, stating that he remains a committed member of the Labour Party.
Obi clarified that the coalition he is part of is a strategic alliance among opposition parties aimed at unseating the current administration and producing a leader capable of delivering meaningful change to Nigerians.
He also took a swipe at the Tinubu-led administration, accusing it of failing to provide the dividends of democracy and improve the lives of ordinary citizens.
