The Labour Party’s (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has confirmed he will contest the 2027 general election under the LP banner.
Obi made the declaration in a 7-minute video shared Saturday on the party’s WhatsApp platform, during an interactive session with young supporters. Addressing internal tensions within the LP and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Obi alleged that the federal government is behind the ongoing crises in both opposition parties.
“I will still continue to run in the Labour Party. I’m a member of the Labour Party,” Obi said, responding to a direct question about his political future.
He further accused the ruling administration of engineering instability within opposition ranks. “What is happening in the Labour Party and the PDP is caused by the government, quote me anywhere,” the former Anambra State governor stated.
