Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has expressed disappointment over reports that the Super Eagles, Nigeria’s national football team, are yet to receive their allowances.
Describing the situation as “truly unfortunate,” Obi said the team consistently gives their best in representing the nation and should not be owed payments. He criticized the government for prioritizing lavish spending and political patronage over timely remuneration for those who serve the country with dedication.
Obi added that failing to treat national representatives with dignity sends the wrong message to the youth, suggesting that hard work and service are not rewarded. “Those who represent Nigeria deserve to be paid promptly and treated with respect. We must do better,” he stated.
