Labour Party presidential candidate and former Anambra State governor, Mr. Peter Obi, says he has been advised by doctors to take a few days off for rest, forcing him to cancel scheduled engagements within and outside the country this weekend.
Obi disclosed this after attending a series of events on Friday, including a tourism programme in Enugu, a visit to Good Hope Specialist Hospital, Isulo, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, and a dinner in Owerri hosted by Barrister Nnaemeka Maduagwu in honour of former Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
During his stop at the hospital, which is being acquired by the Aguata Diocese of the Church of Nigeria, Obi made an initial donation of ₦10 million to support the Diocese’s acquisition and revitalisation of the facility. He was received by Ven. Dr. Kamtochukwu Obi, Chairman of the Aguata Diocesan Hospital Board, who briefed him on plans to transform the hospital into a comprehensive health complex with a School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Technology.
Obi commended the initiative, stressing that healthcare remains one of the most critical investments for national development and that faith-based organisations have consistently demonstrated capacity to deliver quality services.
The former governor apologised for any inconveniences caused by his cancelled appearances, asking for the understanding of those affected.
