Former Governor of Sokoto State, Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, was recently arrested and interrogated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), an event that has highlighted contradictions in Nigeria’s ongoing battle against corruption.
Reacting to the development, Peter Obi emphasized that transparency is crucial for the success of anti-corruption efforts in the country. He stated that sincerity from leadership is essential in addressing corruption and called for a unified legal framework that applies equally to all individuals, regardless of their political affiliations.
Obi urged anti-graft agencies to act in accordance with the rule of law and conscience rather than political bias. He insisted that evidence and facts must guide investigations, warning against selective targeting based on political convenience.
“A corruption-free Nigeria is possible only if our fight is transparent,” Obi concluded, underscoring the need for fairness and openness in the nation’s anti-corruption campaign.
