The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Kabiru Turaki, has rejected the ruling of the Court of Appeal of Nigeria which nullified the party’s national convention held on November 15 and 16, 2025 in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
In its judgment delivered on Monday, the appellate court affirmed an earlier decision of the Federal High Court of Nigeria that restrained the PDP from holding the convention.
Reacting to the judgment, the PDP spokesperson for the Turaki-led faction, Ini Ememobong, said the party has directed its legal team to challenge the ruling at the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
He stated that implementing the judgment could cause significant hardship for party members, prompting consultations with key party organs while legal steps are being taken to appeal the decision.
Ememobong expressed optimism that the apex court would resolve the matter swiftly in the interest of democracy and urged PDP members to remain united, assuring them that the legal dispute would soon be resolved.
