Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, has denied reports making the rounds that pensioners are been owed in the state.

The Governor made this known when the leadership of Silverbird Television visited him at Government House Port Harcourt, to present him with the award of “Extraordinary Personality of the Year,” today.

Wike who stated that he spends about N1.8 billion naira monthly on pensioners in the state, said some persons want him to spend the N78 billion FG refund on pension.

He said such a thing cannot happen as the money is meant for infrastructure and nothing more.

Wike also said reports that pensioners are not been paid in the state, is the handiwork of detractors.

He commended the group for finding him worthy of receiving the prestigious award.
