The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a stern warning to its members, cautioning them against endorsing President Bola Tinubu for re-election in 2027.
This follows recent public declarations by some PDP chieftains expressing support for Tinubu’s second-term bid, a move the party described as anti-party and a violation of its constitution.
In a statement issued on Friday by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the party condemned the actions and utterances of certain prominent members, describing them as a serious threat to the party’s unity and stability.
“Of serious concern is the persistent public media outburst against our party by some prominent members whose actions and utterances, including their public declaration of support and willingness to work for the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election in violation of the provision of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017), constitute a serious threat to the stability and sustenance of our party,” the statement read.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to upholding internal discipline and warned that further breaches would be met with appropriate sanctions.
