The Forum of State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its loyalty to the national leadership of the party, following a strategic meeting held on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

The meeting, which recorded the attendance of 29 State Chairmen, deliberated extensively on issues affecting the party’s stability and preparations ahead of the National Elective Convention scheduled for November 15–16, 2025 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the Forum declared total support and confidence in the National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagun, and the National Working Committee (NWC). The State Chairmen hailed the leadership’s performance, describing it as effective and instrumental to rebuilding unity within the PDP.

The Forum also applauded the judiciary, particularly the ruling delivered by Hon. Justice Akintola, which it said cleared the path for the conduct of the forthcoming convention. It urged all recognized delegates under the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended) to begin full preparations to elect credible and loyal representatives into the party’s leadership positions.

Furthermore, the Forum commended the synergy among key leadership organs – the NWC under Ambassador Damagun, the PDP Governors’ Forum led by Senator Bala Mohammed, and the Board of Trustees chaired by Senator Adolphus Wabara. This collective leadership approach, it noted, has significantly contributed to stabilizing the party.

The State Chairmen emphasized the need for strict internal discipline, encouraging state chapters to enforce constitutional provisions against members whose actions undermine party unity and cohesion.

Reaffirming their collective commitment to the PDP’s unity, progress, and electoral victories, the Forum distanced itself from what it termed the “purported Abdurahman leadership,” insisting that Ambassador Umar Damagun remains the only authentic National Chairman of the party.

The communiqué was jointly signed by Tony Aziegbemi, Edo State Chairman and Chairman of the Forum of PDP State Chairmen, and Edward Mashal, Kaduna State Chairman and Secretary of the Forum.
