PORT HARCOURT – The Acting Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Robinson Nname-Ewor, has declared that the party has regained full control of its political structures in the state, effectively ending the dominance of former governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Speaking in an interview on Arise TV on Monday night, Nname-Ewor stated that Wike’s long-standing grip on the PDP in Rivers State has been broken. He described the former governor’s tenure as a period of “political hostage-taking,” accusing him of defying national party directives, including unilaterally conducting congresses despite contrary instructions.
“Before now, Wike held the party hostage at the state level,” he said. “The national said don’t conduct congresses; he went ahead to conduct them. But today, we have gone beyond that.”
He added that the PDP in Rivers State is now fully independent of Wike’s influence, asserting that the former governor and his allies no longer have any control over the party’s affairs in the state.
