The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has downplayed the recent defection of its 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, describing it as neither surprising nor unprecedented.
Reacting to the development in a statement on Friday, the party’s Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, said Atiku’s departure was not new, adding that the former vice president had left the PDP in the past and later returned.
Damagum expressed confidence that Atiku would return once again, stating, “We are expecting him back in no distant time.”
