The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has reacted to claims by Governor Nyesom Wike that members of the National Working Committee (NWC) are tax collectors, stating that it is false as none of its members have collected or collects money from anyone illegally.
The NWC in a press statement released yesterday noted that the said publication on Thisday Newspaper, that casted aspersion on the governor, were handiwork of enemies and not from any member of the NWC.
The governor who had earlier announced his decision to pull out of the reconciliation efforts of the Edo PDP, accused the party leaders of being biased describing them as “tax collectors.”
The NWC stated that the party holds Governor Wike and indeed all their governors, who have been the pillars of the party, with utmost respect and had always consulted them on all party affairs.
The statement confirmed that the NWC appreciates the efforts and sacrifices of the governor and will not allow enemies cause disunity in the party.
