The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its readiness for its forthcoming National Convention following the successful conclusion of its 107th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Monday in Abuja.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the party expressed satisfaction with the conduct of its ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses nationwide, describing the exercises as peaceful, transparent, and credible. The NEC ratified reports from the congresses and commended party leaders, electoral committees, and members for their discipline and adherence to due process.
The committee also reviewed the ongoing electronic registration of members, praising the progress recorded so far. It urged members across the country to actively participate, reaffirming its commitment to building a credible, technology-driven membership database.
On party structure, NEC affirmed the zoning formula for national elective positions, noting that the arrangement aligns with the PDP’s principles of equity, fairness, inclusiveness, and national balance. The zoning framework, it said, will guide the forthcoming National Convention.
The party disclosed that the sale of nomination forms for the convention has commenced, advising interested aspirants to comply strictly with approved guidelines and timelines.
Reiterating its preparedness, NEC directed all relevant organs and committees to ensure seamless coordination for a successful convention, themed “A Convention of Inclusiveness, Unity and Renewal.”
The committee also emphasized the supremacy of the party, calling on members to remain united, disciplined, and committed to the PDP’s collective interest.
Expressing confidence in the party’s renewed strength and unity, the NEC assured Nigerians of its readiness to provide purposeful leadership and clear national direction.
The communiqué was signed by Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed, Chairman of the PDP National Caretaker Working Committee, and Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, Secretary of the committee.
