The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDPGF) has pledged to legally challenge the suspension of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, along with other elected officials in the state.
On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu declared a State of Emergency in Rivers, removing the governor, his deputy, and members of the State House of Assembly from office.
In a statement signed by its chairman, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, the PDP governors urged the President to acknowledge his error and revoke the decision.
The forum accused the President of partiality, highlighting his failure to address the involvement of his Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, in escalating the political turmoil in Rivers.
The statement expressed solidarity with Governor Fubara and the people of Rivers State while condemning the President’s actions as a significant threat to democracy and national stability.
