The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dissolved the Akwa Ibom State Executive Committee of the party.
In a statement on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, said the decision was in line with the powers of the NWC as provided in the amended 2017 Constitution of the party.
Ologunagba announced the constitution of a Caretaker Committee to oversee the affairs of the party in Akwa Ibom State for a period not exceeding three months, or until a new executive committee is elected.
The caretaker committee is chaired by Igwat Umoren, with Harrison Ekpo as Deputy Chairman and Borono Bassey as Secretary, alongside 28 other members.
The NWC urged party leaders, stakeholders and members in Akwa Ibom to remain united and work collectively for the progress and stability of the PDP in the state.
