The Peoples Democratic Party faction aligned with Nyesom Wike has called on its members to disregard a recent meeting between a rival bloc led by Taminu Turaki and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement issued Wednesday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, clarified that the engagement was not sanctioned by the PDP. He emphasised that the party has neither held formal nor informal discussions with the ADC or any of its representatives.
Mohammed stated that individuals who attended the meeting did so in their personal capacities and should not be seen as representing the party. He urged both party members and the public to dismiss reports suggesting otherwise, describing such claims as unfounded and misleading.
He further noted that preparations for the PDP’s primary elections are ongoing, adding that official timelines and guidelines will be released in due course. According to him, the party remains committed to strengthening its internal processes and delivering credible leadership.
Meanwhile, earlier on Wednesday, the Turaki-led faction held a meeting with a bloc of the ADC led by David Mark, describing the visit as a show of solidarity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting, which lasted about two hours, focused on national issues and prospects for inter-party collaboration. Notable attendees included Jerry Gana, Babangida Aliyu, members of the PDP National Working Committee, and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.
