The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has disassociated itself from a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, claiming that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) had approved the recognition of the Ewo-led executive committee in Rivers State.
In a counterstatement issued on January 16, 2025, Deputy National Publicity Secretary Ibrahim Abdullahi, acting under the directive of the Acting National Chairman, Amb. Umar Iliya Damagun, refuted the claim, calling it a “calculated falsehood.” Abdullahi clarified that the NWC neither received the court judgment on the matter nor convened to deliberate or make any decision regarding it. He further noted that the judgment in question had already been appealed.
The party accused Ologunagba of taking “extreme and contradictory opinions” contrary to the collective resolve of the NWC, thereby undermining its authority.
The PDP urged the public, particularly its members, to disregard the statement from Ologunagba, describing it as a fabrication. The party assured that the official position of the NWC on the matter would be communicated in due course.
