Former National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, Kola Ologbondiya says the crisis in the Rivers State Chapter of the party, contributed to the crisis rocking the party at the national level.
Ologbondiya, in a statement said the “former leadership” of the party led by Illiya Damagum did not act in support of the Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, despite the fact that the constitution of the party, declares governors as leaders of the party.
According to him, the party failed to support the Rivers State Governor in the just concluded congresses, despite warnings for it not to sideline the governor.
He accused the leadership of the party of favouring the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike instead of Fubara.
Meanwhile, the new PDP Acting National Chairman, Yayari Mohammed says he has resumed office. This follows the suspension of Damagum by a faction of the party led by Debo Olugunagba.
