The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the postponement of the party’s scheduled National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting originally fixed for June 30, as well as the reinstatement of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary.
In a statement signed by BoT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, the party’s elders described both decisions as unconstitutional and a violation of internal party procedures. Wabara accused the Acting National Chairman of overstepping his authority, stressing that resolutions of the NEC—PDP’s highest decision-making body outside the national convention—cannot be unilaterally reversed.
According to Wabara, the date for the 100th NEC meeting was duly agreed upon at the last session on May 27, 2025, and remains binding. He further criticised the move to reinstate Anyanwu, stating it contravenes both a Supreme Court judgment and earlier decisions of the National Working Committee (NWC), which had appointed the Deputy National Secretary to serve in an acting capacity.
