The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, has turned down a N30 million cash gift from the Kebbi State Government intended to support a recent crusade held in the state.
The incident, which unfolded publicly on stage and was captured on social media, saw Dr. Enenche and his wife, Pastor Becky Enenche, politely declining the funds citing a preference for the money to be redirected toward meaningful state development or humanitarian causes.
Following the rejection, government officials reportedly insisted they could not take the money back, suggesting instead that it be handed over to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to fund the fencing of a cemetery plot allocated to them by the state government.
Dr. Enenche, however, maintained his position, stating that Dunamis Church would personally take responsibility for the cemetery fencing project and still refused the donation outright.
Despite the light-hearted exchange that accompanied the incident on stage, the pastor’s message remained firm: funds meant for the church would be better used for the underprivileged. He noted that the church had already sent relief materials to Yelwata, Benue State, to support victims of recent herdsmen attacks.
