The Founder and Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC), Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, has announced plans to carry out 1,130 free surgeries and distribute medications valued at over N500 million during a major six-day outreach in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Speaking at a press briefing in Ikeja, Lagos, Ashimolowo said the programme, organised through his Christ Compassion to the Rural World (CCRW) Foundation, will run from November 24 to 29 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Igwuruta.
Tagged “Port Harcourt, This Is Selfless Love,” the initiative is the third in the CCRW series, following previous editions in Ikorodu (2023) and Ibadan (2024). Ashimolowo noted that the Port Harcourt outreach is expected to be the biggest yet, targeting over 700,000 beneficiaries.
He explained that about 70,000 residents will receive medical care, with 1,130 surgical procedures already screened ahead of the programme. These include over 300 thyroid surgeries, more than 200 fibroid operations, and over 300 cataract procedures.
According to him, the medical services will run for three weeks across multiple facilities, including the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, primary healthcare centres and military hospitals.
Ashimolowo added that the outreach will also feature extensive relief distribution, comprising 150,000 bags each of rice, beans and garri; 100,000 packs of noodles; 20,000 packs of salt, sugar and cooking oil; 20,000 bags of soap; 170,000 clothing items; 10,000 Ankara wrappers; 25,000 buckets and 1,000 mattresses for the elderly.
