The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reported a significant decline in the performance of candidates who took the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
According to official figures published on JAMB’s website, out of the 1,955,657 candidates who sat for the examination, only 420,415 candidates—representing 22.7 percent—scored 200 and above. In contrast, a staggering 77.3 percent, approximately 1.5 million candidates, scored below the 200 mark.
The board also disclosed that less than one percent of candidates attained scores above 300.
