…Promises to liaise with State Government to key into the skill acquisition.
The Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Rivers State Chapter and South-South zone, Amb Ihunwo Chijioke has said that the youths of Rivers State needs skills to succeed in life.
Amb. Chijioke made this known at the Youth Council Secretariat in Portharcourt when the Managing Director of Steel Qores Nigeria Limited, Emmanuel Diavban and his team paid him a working visit in his office to introduce to the Chairman a Skill that will be of utmost benefit to Rivers State youths, and how collaboration can be formed with the government through the apex youth body to give Rivers youths this skill.
According to the Chairman: “First I want to thank you for the visit to the apex youth body in the State, and seeking collaboration on how to engage our youths. Today in Nigeria, we need skills to succeed. For me, this is the best way to go. We will liaise with our Governor, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara to key into this skill acquisition for our youths.”
Amb. Chijioke, who emphasised on continuity and assured the managing director and his team that the State Government will key into the skill acquisition for Rivers State youths: “One thing is to train the people, after the training what next. We must put something on the ground for the youths to leverage on. You don’t train people and abandon them. We will have partnership with you, I will liaise with the Rivers State Ministry of Youth Development, who is supervising the youth council, to see how we will work out modalities for a partnership with your company in other to get our youths out of the streets. Thank you for coming and be rest assured that we have a Governor that is very friendly with the youths and represents the young people. So, we will partner with the State Government to train more youths from each local government areas,” he said.
Also speaking, the Managing Director of Steel Qores Nigeria Limited, Mr. Diavban said the company has been in existence for over ten years, and has been operating in Lagos State, but thought it wise to come to Niger Delta starting with Rivers State. He stated that the company is looking at forming a collaboration with government through the apex youth body that will enable the organisation train one youth per local government area. He said the training will be free, believing that at the end of the training government will be able to acquire the equipment for the youths, because the essence will be defeated if the youths don’t get these starter packs.
