Family of a motor spare parts dealer who reportedly died in police custody, Chukwudi Okereke, has denied claims by the Police that he was a cultist and a kidnapper.
Wife of the deceased – Mrs Okereke in a statement denied the claims adding that her husband had nothing to do with cultism and kidnapping.
She accused the Police of killing her husband and called for justice to be served on the matter.
Also, brother to the deceased, Chibueze, Okereke alleged that an officer from the Octopus Strike Force had threatened his late brother before his arrest months back.
He said the threat was in retaliation for Chukwudi’s persistent demands for the officer to repay him for his vehicle engine that had gone missing at the police station while they were handling a different matter.
Recall that the Police had in a statement denied that Chukwudi was tortured to death as claimed by his family, adding that he was a cultist and a kidnapper.
