The Rivers State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, has accused the Rivers State Government of failing to release results of promotion interviews conducted for teachers ten years ago.
Chairman of the Union in the State, Comrade Lucky Nkpogone disclosed this in a chat with journalists in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
He said teachers in the state have remained stagnant for about ten years since after the interviews.
He said despite several appeal to the government to release the results for promotion, nothing has been done.
“We have severally appealed to the Rivers State government, sometimes our members describe us as toothless bull dogs but we don’t want to be confrontational, we believe in dialogue”.
“Over the years, we have complained of non-promotion for the teachers, non-annual increment, there is no employment of teachers, our schools are so dilapidated, and the teachers remain stagnant on a grade level over the years,” he said.
