The Elele Community Division of the ONELGA Security and Planning Committee OSPAC, in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State, says their members commit crime due to hunger.
Commander of the Vigilante group, Daniel Wosa disclosed this in an interview with journalists on Monday.
Wosa said despite their efforts in protecting lives and properties in the area, they are not been appreciated.
He appealed to Governor Nyesom Wike to support them, considering the voluntary services they render in restoring peace in the area and the state at large.
He noted that they find it difficult to take care of themselves and their families, while stating that the money they get for their services is not enough.
Wosa also said incentives from the state government, will encourage them to do more in protecting the lives and properties of Rivers people.
