A member of the ONELGA Security and Planning Committee in Ikwerre Local Government Area, has mistakenly shot and killed his colleague.
According to reports, the incident happened on Friday. The suspect was attempting to shoot in the air when the bullet mistakenly hit the deceased.
The body of the deceased have been moved to an unknown destination, away from the eyes of members of the public who were already taking pictures of him.
Meanwhile, residents have urged the police to investigate the incident to ascertain, if it was truly an accidental discharge.
The Rivers State Police Command, is yet to comment on the incident, which has created panic in the area.
