The Onelga Security Planning and Advisory Committee (OSPAC) has reacted to the call by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu for all local vigilantee groups to submit their firearms.
The Spokesman of OSPAC, Felix Nwaobakata in a chat with journalists in Onelga, appealed to the IGP to reverse the decision as they are now being massacred by armed bandits.
He said since the pronouncement, over eight of its members have been killed by armed gunmen.
“We cannot fight someone with AK 47 with bare hands. Let us not forget the past in Rivers State when the area was tense with those hoodlums. Without the help of OSPAC, the peace that we are enjoying would not have been easy,” he said.
