A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Meinyie Commander has revealed that Gov. Nyesom Wike has summoned an emergency meeting of leaders of the PDP in Opobo LGA after the mega rally of the APC in the area yesterday.
Meinyie, alleged that the Governor has accused leaders of the party in the area of working with the APC to frustrate the chances of Sim Fubara, governorship candidate of the PDP.
His statement reads,
RIVERS PDP JITTERS AS WIKE CALL EMERGENCY MEETING OVER OPOBO/NKORO APC RALLY
Following the huge outcome of the Rivers APC rally in Opobo/Nkoro earlier yesterday, indications have emerged that Gov. Wike has summoned an emergency meeting of leaders of the Party in the LGA to demand that they intensify efforts at ensuring that their grand finale has massive attendance.
Recall that the PDP has been going round the state canvassing for votes under the guise of Voter’s sensitisation.
Our source revealed that the Governor is worried that despite the noise about defections of persons from the area and notwithstanding the fact that his handpicked successor, Mr. Siminialayi Fubara hails from the area, the opposition party could still muster such number of Opobo/Nkoro in opposition to his candidacy
The Governor, according to the report has accused some leaders of the PDP from the LGA, including Dr. Tamunosisi Gogo-Jaja and those he referred to as fifth columnists of working with the APC to frustrate the chances of Mr. Fubara.
Our source further confirmed that the Governor has immediately released not less than 150million Naira to the party leaders to buy people over inorder to do everything possible to organise the GDI grand finale on Saturday September 3rd at Opobo town with a promise of being physically present if the Mobilisation surpasses that of the APC.
A mobilisation circular released yesterday by members of the GDI in Opobo/Nkoro reveals that they’re massively mobilising non-indigenes from other LGAs beginning from today.
We therefore urge the public to discountenance the claim of PDP in Opobo/Nkoro as what will assemble at Opobo on Saturday will be a convergence PDP members across the state.
