The Rivers APC has accused the People’s Democratic Party of mobilizing people from outside Opobo/Nkoro with state resources to attend the rally of the Grassroot Development Initiative at the weekend.
Spokesperson of the party in the state, Darlington Nwauju alleged that the PDP hired people to attend the event so as to hold up its fast wilting popularity, and that of its Governorship candidate, SIM Fubara.
According to him, from what transpired in Opobo, the PDP can never recover from the APC tsunami that took place in the area few days ago.
Part of his statement reads,
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has laughed at the frantic mobilization of persons from outside of Opobo/Nkoro LGA using state resources, in order to laboriously hold up the fast wilting popularity of the PDP in the state and its Governorship candidate, who incidentally hails from the Opobo/Nkoro LGA.
From what transpired in Opobo town, it has become visible even to the blind that despite all the panicky efforts to panel-beat the battered image and reputation of the party, PDP can never recover from the APC tsunami that took place on Thursday 1st September, 2022 in Opobo town.
The events of yesterday (3rd September 2022) is thus, to put it mildly, an early warning signal for the imminent defeat of the PDP at the polls. It is also an account which further trumpets the growing unpopularity of an opaque and exclusive government in Rivers State.
The PDP should have done its homework by fielding a popular candidate whose popularity would have seamlessly activated the common saying that, “charity begins at home”.
The APC calls on its members across the state to draw inspiration from the excellent outing recorded three days ago and keep talking to the people at the grassroots who are now the strongmen and women in politics due to the introduction of the BIVAS. The very reason why the APC in Rivers State has prioritized person to person engagement across the 6,866 polling units in the state.
Rivers people must be free from the mental and psychological torture imposed on them and the state by the outgoing PDP administration.
