The Executive Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Enyiada Cookey-Gam, has approved the implementation of a ₦85,000 minimum wage for council workers in the area.
The decision was reached following a closed-door meeting between the chairman and the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Opobo/Nkoro Chapter.
The wage increase is expected to improve the welfare of council workers and boost their productivity. The move aligns with ongoing efforts to ensure fair compensation for public sector employees in the local government.
