The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro LGA, Enyiada Cookey-Gam says they have uncovered plot to destabilize and cause unrest in the area.
Cookey-Gam in a statement through his media aide, Clinton Thomas Ogolo said reports gathered indicate that those behind the plot are the same crop of people operating and instigating crises in Rivers State.
The statement read,
The attention of the CTC chairman of Opobo/Nkoro LGA, Rt. Hon (Dr) Enyiada Cookey-Gam , DSSRS , Balolo Of Opobo Kingdom has been drawn to an intelligent security report about a sponsored cult protest to be carried out in the LGA from Wednesday September 4, wherein the cultists have been mandated to cause mayhem in the peaceful LGA, and consequently demand the resignation of the chairman and also ask him not to participate in the forthcoming LG polls.
The intelligent reports gathered that those sponsoring these cultists are the same crop of people operating and instigating crises in Rivers State.
Against this backdrop, the CTC Chairman is calling on the security agencies, including the police, Army, DSS, Civil defence and other relevant authorities to mount a 24hr surveillance across the waterways and all entry and exit channels in order to apprehend the cultists before they destabilise the LGA.
Hon Enyiada is also using the medium to call on parents and guardians to closely watch the movements of their wards in order for them not to mix with the cultists who have been deployed against the LGA.
The chairman maintained that under his watch, the peace and unity in the LGA cannot be compromised for whatever reasons and hence those who are out to cause mayhem will be decisively and comprehensively dealt with to serve as a deterrent to others who may want to travel such roads.
The chairman thus sternly warns the cultists and their sponsors to avoid Opobo/Nkoro LGA for their own good.
The chairman further reiterated that Opobo/Nkoro LGA, under his watch, is completely loyal and totally in support of the executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS, noting that there’s no room for enemies of the state to operate in Opobo/Nkoro LGA.
To be fore warned is to be fore armed.
