Operatives of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) PATHFINDER have uncovered and dismantled three illegal oil warehouses in Olobulo Amma Community, Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The discovery was made on Monday, January 19, 2026, during an operation conducted under Operation Delta Sentinel, a special security initiative aimed at curbing crude oil theft and illegal refining activities in the Niger Delta.
According to the Navy, the illegal warehouses housed 15 GeePee tanks loaded with large quantities of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO). Also recovered at the site was a fibre boat laden with an unspecified quantity of illegally refined AGO.
Other items seized during the operation included 11 jerricans of lubricant, one pumping machine, and two electric submersible pumping machines, all of which were believed to have been used for illegal refining and distribution activities.
The Nigerian Navy said the illegal facilities were subsequently neutralised to prevent their reuse and to deter further criminal activities in the area.
The Navy reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining operations against oil theft, illegal bunkering, and other forms of maritime crimes, stressing that such activities pose serious threats to national revenue, environmental safety, and community well-being.
