4th September 2023

Correcting the abuse of trust

Ekpeye people who have since the 8th of September 2023 been heaped with double anguish and undesired torment both in psychology and sociology premiered by the murder and dismembering of the body of SP BAKO are again to be tormented even further by those we trust as leaders, (viz; Uzugbani Ekpeye.)

It has been for the existing anguish that Ekpeye young and old have continuously called on every sphere and cadre of leadership in Ekpeye, especially those who exist in positions to which they campgaigned, begged for or accepted to represent a sector, section or group within the Ekpeye nation, and in same manner swore to uphold the safety of lives and properties of the great Ekpeye people, amongst other things.

It is for this want of proper leadership and the seemingly lack of it thereof that had led the once thriving and blossoming land of our fathers to now a sinking sand. This is not generic to every leader per time but the nonchalant system must be stopped.

It was seeming that alas
a relief is here and the big curaders have come to play, (AKA), UZUGBANI EKPEYE when the president general submitted in his publication dated 3rd October 2023, and signed by him.

It was the first time since the death of SP BAKO that he was writing or speaking in the open to Ekpeye people, so eager eyes were countless, then disappointingly he suggested that his ascribed duty to protect lives of Ekpeye people by meaningful advocacy was now a disturbance to him to the point that he termed the call a “deafining” submission.

That still would have seem no subject to discuss then the belittling introduction of an Ekpeye people’s general meeting to discuss the safety of our mothers and fathers now scheduled to hold in a confined, entrance only by permit hotel in a land Very far away from Ekpeye.

This selfish move just puts the question of whether the Uzugbani Ekpeye leadership have been less concerned, to an answer of a Terrible Yes.

That those who should lead and stand to console the multitude of bereaved ekpeye families have ran so far away from Ekpeye.

That as a people, the owhor holders and aged parents are now unceremoniously invited to transport themselves by foot to a land far away to discuss that which its implementation is for Ekpeye.

Other than that, what reason would the Uzugbani Ekpeye excos and it’s president have seen to abandon Ekpeye people leaving in Ekpeye land and not feel safe enough to hold a meeting in Ahoada town.

It is utterly ridiculous that because these leaders have a means to live comfortably outside Ekpeye as such feel less of the numbering families in villages in Ekpeye even without a security presence.

It is to this end that we the CONCERNED EKPEYE YOUTHS FOR PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT request that whatever gathering in hotels in the name of Uzugbani Ekpeye, proposed to hold 12pm Friday October 6th in a hotel somewhere in GRA Port Harcourt is total reverse to the collective peace and assurance we seek as a people.

It is obvious that they choose that Venue to wine and eat roasted chicken and that’s the height of Shame we want to count in this trying times as a people.

As they like to put it, that security discussion are only to be done in the secret of bedroom Conner, let them continue with that, and let the results show, we will all gladly applaud.

They can also hold their exco meetings where ever they choose too but MUST NOT hold our collective Ekpeye meeting under the auspices of Uzugbani Ekpeye as a body outside our mother land as if those who still reside in those villages a less human.

As such that meeting is not in our collective interest as Ekpeye people.

This letter is to all well thinking elite in Ekpeye, and friends of Ekpeye to request Uzugbani Ekpeye to immediately reconsider that meeting venue to a town within the boundaries of Ekpeye, and make same public.

This is our call as part of the cleansing of the Ekpeye land against deceitful leaders and their bandwagon team who only understand share for me.

Our submission is that those concerned should immediately call the leadership of Uzugbani Ekpeye to order against any meeting in the name of the Ekpeye nation outside Ekpeye for the collective interest of all.

If it is truly an Uzugbani Ekpeye meeting then it should not be reduced to only those with hotel permits. the proposed hotel too should be weary of this run away leaders seeking abode with them.

The concerned Ekpeye youths with “permission” from relevant security agencies as sought already will occupy any Venue not within Ekpeye land proposed for the Uzugbani Ekpeye general meeting.
