The executive chairman of Opobo/Nkoro LGA Rt Hon(Dr) Enyiada Cookey-Gam , DSSRS Balolo of Opobo kingdom has pledged to pay undergraduate bursary to indigenes of the LGA studying at various tertiary institutions in the country starting from December 2023.
The council boss made this promise during a courtesy visit by the National Union of Opobo/Nkoro students, NUONS at his office on Wednesday, 6th December 2023,
The students body gave the Council Boss an award of excellence in recognition of his giant and laudable projects littered across the LGA.
In His appreciation remarks the Chairman of council thanked them and promised to keep to his words assuring them of his continuous support and assistance.
In furtherance of the assurance, Dr Cookey-Gam immediately set up a bursary facilitation and implementation committee chaired by the Supervisory Councillor for Education; Hon. Douglas D. Epelle

Chapter presidents are members of the committee as well.
The chairman charged the committee to work assiduously to facilitate a hitch free payment of the bursary from this December.
The students commended the various developmental strides of the chairman, his foresight in human capacity development, infrastructural drive and particularly the milestones in students welfare and education via the enrollment of 300 students for UTME (JAMB) in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
GCE registration for 300 students in 2021, 2022 & 2023; 100 students each year and the scholarships for NTI students.
These kind and unprecedented feat of the chairman they said had necessitated the award of excellence presented to the chairman.
