The Executive Chairman of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA), Sir Dr. Chukwu Ogbogu Shedrack, on Monday led the Vice Chairman, the Leader of the Ninth Legislative Council, 16 councillors, and a large number of supporters to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Amb. Comr. Oti Eze Henry, Special Adviser on Media to the ONELGA Chairman disclosed this in a statement
Speaking during the declaration, the council chairman said the decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was driven by several factors, including what he described as deepening divisions within the party at the national level.
He also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, noting efforts to clear more than $10 billion in foreign exchange liabilities, rising investor confidence, and the growth of Nigeria’s net foreign exchange reserves from $3.99 billion in 2023 to $23.11 billion in 2024.
Ogbogu further highlighted the impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda on Rivers State, citing key federal appointments such as that of Bro. Felix Amaechi Obuah as Abuja Metropolitan Council Coordinator and Rt. Hon. Chibudom Nwuche as Chairman of the South South Development Commission.
According to him, President Tinubu’s leadership has also contributed to improved political stability in Rivers State and a steady decline in Nigeria’s inflation rate to 16.5% as of October 2025, marking seven consecutive months of easing price growth.
On behalf of ONELGA stakeholders, the chairman formally endorsed President Tinubu for a second term and urged him to contest in the 2027 presidential election.
