The Rivers State Police Command says one of the kidnappers of the Barrister Paulette Bisola Ajayi, Chinedu Chigbu is dead. Chinedu was arrested when Pauletta was rescued from a forest at Okomoko in Etche LGA.
Paulette Ajayi and Paul Nyulaku, a British High Commission employee were rescued this morning by officers of the anti-kidnapping unit of the state command.
The state Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan disclosed this in a statement today. He said the suspect was fatally injured during the shootout and later died in a hospital while others escaped into the bush with bullet wounds.
He also said, “Their camp was immediately destroyed. Exhibits recovered from them include one AK47 rifle, a fully loaded magazine and 100 rounds of live ammunition. Efforts are on to arrest members of the gang.”
