One person was yesterday killed with several others injured in Bakana, Degema local government area of Rivers after suspected cultists clashed during a burial ceremony.
Sources say trouble started after suspected cultists at the jetty shot dead a young man travelling with a group of boys for allegedly challenging his superior.
They said the boys who were angered by the act left and reinforced, and stormed the community shooting sporadically leaving few injured dead.
They said the situation was brought under control by marine police who engaged the cultists as they took to their heels.
The incident we gathered caused panic in the community as residents scampered for safety.
The Police was yet to react to the incident as at press time.
