The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, is dead. The revered monarch passed away in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025, just two days after marking his 90th birthday.
Oba Olakulehin ascended the throne in July 2024 and was officially presented with the staff of office by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on July 12, 2024. He became the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland following the death of his predecessor, Oba Moshood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, who died on March 14, 2024, at the age of 81.
Before his emergence as monarch, Oba Olakulehin held the title of Balogun Olubadan, a senior position in the Ibadan traditional chieftaincy hierarchy.
His passing marks the end of a short but eventful reign over the ancient Yoruba kingdom.
