The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Okrika local government area, Hon Princess Ibiene Ogan has flagged off the first phase of Maternal and Child Health Week organised by the Rivers State Ministry of Health.
Ogan, during the flag off at Island Maternity, said the health care of the people is paramount.
She called on people of the area to seize the opportunity as several medical issues would be offered for free during the period.
“The services are for everyone, women, men, pregnant mothers, women of child-bearing age, and children. I call on every one of us to make ourselves available and utilize this free opportunity provided for us by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
“As we say, health is wealth, so I expect us to mobilise our people for this very important programme. The medical personnel will be on the ground to attend to everybody. Let us be patient when we get there and be orderly so that the process will be quick.”
The Maternal and Child Heàlth Week is celebrated twice every year and organized by the Rivers State Government.
