The Executive Chairman of Okrika Local Government Area, Sir Igwe Achese has declared free WAEC registration for all secondary school students in the area.
Achese made the declaration during an event tagged, “Take the right path; My health, my right” to commemorate this year’s WorldAidsDay.
He said, “Today, we gather to commemorate World AIDS Day. As we all know, AIDS is no longer a deadly disease, but it’s crucial to share the importance and impact of AIDS on human health. The best way to avoid contracting AIDS is absolute and total abstinence from sex at a younger age.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to announce our plans for our secondary schools. We will be paying the WAEC fees for all public schools in Okrika LGA. Additionally, students who achieve excellent WAEC results will be awarded full scholarships. Therefore, I encourage you to study hard and take your education seriously to obtain this scholarship.
“As we mark World AIDS Day, let’s remember that health is wealth, and good health is life. With good health, you’ll be able to pursue your goals and become what you want to be in life. On behalf of the council, we hope that this World AIDS Day will have a lasting impact on your lives and keep you alive.
Most importantly, to the children, the younger generation, and future leaders of Nigeria, Okrika, and your communities, we wish you better education and good health.
This way, we can build a better Nigeria of our dreams because good health is not just wealth but life.
“As we commemorate this day, it is important for us all to reflect on how far we have gone as a nation and a people to combat this disease, and the efforts we have made so far in reducing it for the greater good of all.
Abstinence is the only solution to combating this disease.
